Thomson Fertility Centre also facilitates a donor programme to couples who are unable to conceive using their own eggs, sperm or embryos. If you think that using donated eggs, sperm or embryos is your only chance to fulfil the dream of parenthood, or if you are concerned about any pre-existing genetic diseases or conditions, our fertility specialists are able to support and guide you through this process.
You will require an egg donor if:
You will require a sperm donor if:
You will require an embryo donor if:
Because we take your choice of becoming a recipient seriously, there is a process of which we adhere to make sure that you have made the right choice for this life-long commitment:
This is to discuss about your view on using donated eggs, sperm or embryos and to check with our doctor on your eligibility on our Donor Programme. If it is your first time visiting our doctor, we would advise you to bring along your medical history reports, marriage certificate and both parties’ ID for registration.
Our nurses will then explain to you on the process of the donor programme in detail followed by several screening blood tests
It is the RTAC requirement that all couples who opt for donor programme to be scheduled for counselling session by our psychologist. This step allows the couple to consider and discuss the legal, social, genetic and moral aspects of having a baby from the donor programme. Also, it would help both parties to make an informed consent.
As we do not recruit donors in our centre, we would recommend you to find and use the donor eggs, sperm or embryos from someone you know such as your family member or friend who is willing to donate. There are alternatives if you are unable to find your own donors. You can import donor sperm from overseas sperm bank.
On the other hand, we have patients who have remaining embryos stored in our facility, They often consider donating their embryos as an option for them instead of discarding them. If you are unable to find an embryos donor, we could facilitate the search for you should there be patients who are willing to donate their embryos.
This donor programme is carried out under the guidelines of MOH and FSA.
